10 Tips For Taking Care Of Your Skin While Traveling

April 18, 2019

Traveling, being in a new climate and getting out of routine can cause your skin havoc. At Eden we pride our self on
curating incredible medi and beauty grade facial treatments tailored to your skin types (View our facial menu here). Our skin care experts have collated 10 tips to keep your skin healthy while you’re traveling.
Stay Fresh!

1. Wash 2x a day!

This one seems like a no-brainer, but when traveling you can get off track with so much going on, causing you to fall out of your skincare routine. Don’t skip a wash. Your skin will thank you later.

2. Avoid hot water.

It is only natural to want to wash our face in the shower, however, this doesn’t help your skin, especially the sensitive skin on our face. Depending on where you are in the world the water levels can be harsher than the water at home and can be more drying or contain different minerals. Make sure to wash with warm/cooler water to avoid harming the skin.

3. Makeup wipe AND cleanser.

One or the other won’t get it, you need both. While traveling it’s important to let your skin breath – if you’re in a humid climate like Bali it is important to give your skin opportunities to be free from product. However, when you do try using a makeup wipe to remove make up ensure you finish with cleanser to clean and detoxify the depth  of what’s underneath.

4. Avoid wiping your face dry.

Try not to drag a towel across or down your face. Gravity is too real and all of that pulling can cause your skin to sag over time. Pat or dab it dry instead.

Eden tip:
If you are feeling the formidable lasting effects of gravity book a consultation with our skin experts to explore what fillers and lifting treatments we have on offer.

5. Invest in a good moisturizer.

Yes, skincare can be expensive when traveling, but the investment is well worth it. Cut back on other things and amp up your skincare inventory. Using a moisturizer with anti-aging and other target solutions will keep your skin protected and nourished for the long haul.

Eden tip:
We recommend using our 01 Day cream it’s a high-performance moisturizer effectively defends against the signs of premature aging. Refreshes skin with lasting hydration.

6. Sunscreen, sunscreen, SUNSCREEN!

Being in the sun is cool and all, but not for your face. It’s great to use a moisturizer with SPF, but that simply is not enough. You need to apply sunscreen every 60 minutes, especially if you are sunbathing in the Bali sun.  You can still tan either way, but it’s good to know you won’t be causing your skin damage from those oh-so-strong sun rays.

Eden tip:
If you’re feeling the effects of prolonged skin damage try our Eden Serum packed with essential oils, this anti-ageing serum is our most effective wrinkle-fighting solution. Rejuvenate your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. See product here

7. Special treatment.

We use a mask or a peel either once a week or once every two weeks. This helps to really get into those pores, turn over those cells to get rid of dark spots and exfoliate the skin properly.

Eden tip: Try our detoxifying mask Detoxify and exfoliate your skin in 1 simple step. Mineral rich clay detoxifies and clarifies your complexion, while ground rice exfoliates and scrubs away dry skin. See product here

8. Buy in minis.

Most products are sold in travel sizes we live by these! That’s why our skin care routine is in an easily transportable size you wont be bogged down by all of your toiletries and you can make those carry on restrictions!

9. Stick to the same thing for a least a month.

It’s super easy to buy whatever is convenient, causing you to change your products on the regular, but that is actually not very effective. You should stick with the same product for about a month to give it time to really work and show the results. It will take some time see what really works for your skin type. But being in a different environment can ulter your skins ability to detoxify – so try make the changes as minimal as possible.

10. Keep it Hydrated!

Drinking lots of water, and eating well will also contribute to better skin. That way, half of the work is already done for you. Including a night cream and face mist can dramatically improve the hydration in your skin, especially if you’re constantly under the air con.

Eden tip:
Try our face Mist:
A refreshing, hydrating mist to use at any time. Formulated with soothing chamomile extracts and anti-inflammatory lemongrass. See product here
